My Reflection Letter

Well this wonderful journey has come to an end, and before we all go our separate ways I would like to take the time to tell you all a little about me and share some of my reflections about the course with you. First off, my name is La Keshia Drahos and I just turned 21 in February. I am a Navy wife and have been for two years now. I have three pets, which consist of two dogs and a cat, and I love them as if they were my kids. I am also a full time student studying to become a nurse. Which is why I took this class, it is one my required class to get into the nursing program. When I signed up for this class, I was not sure what I was getting myself into I thought that I would not make it to the last day of class. I was somewhat disappointed that I could not be a classroom setting, simply because I feel that is the best way to learn. In addition, I felt like online class were just an easy way out of doing too much homework.

However, to my surprise, this class proved to be just as challenging as a regular class and I have learned a lot from this class. Some of the things that I have learned from this class are how to write under pressure, I need to improve my brain storming skills, and how to think outside of the box. Like when it comes to what a community is, I have always thought of a community as a neighborhood or small town. It was not until, we did the paper on community that I realized that a community could be so much more than that. The main thing I learned to do is being able to see things from other people of view and be able to listen without judging them. The discussion boards helped me a lot with being able to see things from other people point of view. We have gone over so much in this class from talking about tradition, community, and identity to things like analyzing movies and articles. We were asked to choose four things out of all these things we have talked about in class, put each into one of the following categories, and put them into our portfolio.

1. Choose a writing that demonstrates your critical thinking skills
2. Choose a writing that demonstrates your skills at revision and reseeing your work
3. Choose a writing that illustrates your awareness of audience and voice
4. Choose a writing that you liked—a “Writer’s Choice”

I chose the following the pieces to put in my portfolio.

1. I chose one of mine timed writings, which was about conformity. This timed writhing was on a movie called “off the map”. I chose this one because I felt it demonstrates my critical thinking the most. I was surprised at much I was able to think outside of the box with this particle writhing.

2. I chose one my paper on “why it is that pop culture erodes tradition?” which I named “Technology or old fashion traditions?” I felt really good when I wrote this paper but when I got it back I found out that I had made quite a few mistakes on it. Therefore, I feel that this paper can use a revising.

3. I chose my discussion board about remember the titans. I felt that I did a good job not being bias and not using the word you (which I tend to want to do a lot). I also felt that I did a good job of explaining the point that I was trying to get across. For those reason I felt that I did good job of being aware of the audience.

4. I chose to use my one of mine blogs named “what my purse says about me”. I chose this blog because it was my favorite assignment to do. I had fun with it and I learned a lot about what kind of image I tend to give off to other people.

Well that is the end of my reflection of this class I hope you enjoyed reading my papers and learning about me.
